Dr. Ajit Kumar Varma was born on 28 February 1955. He completed his schooling at Central School, New Delhi (C.B.S.E) in 1971 and earned his MBBS degree from the University of New Delhi in December 1980. In 1981, he joined the Indian Army Medical Corps, beginning his medical career in military service.
He went on to complete his M.S. in General Surgery from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, in 1990, gaining extensive experience in trauma and emergency care. After serving as a Lieutenant Colonel until 1997, Dr. Varma worked in several leading hospitals across Kerala, specializing in general, gastrointestinal, laparoscopic, and cancer surgeries.
In 2004, he joined the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, as Chief of the Diabetic Lower-Limb and Podiatric Surgery Unit. From 2015 to 2018, he served as Senior Consultant in Podiatric Surgery at Aster Medcity, Kochi, and later worked as a Specialist in the Department of Podiatry at Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar, from 2019 to 2025. In 2025, he returned to India and currently serves as Senior Consultant in Podiatric Surgery at Renai Medicity Institute, Kochi.
